best ski lessons at heavenly for beginner kid?

Nov-21-2009 Posted under Heavenly Ski Resort

we’re going up to heavenly valley at south lake tahoe. wondering who has the best ski lessons for our child. is the resort school the best choice or should we be finding someone elsewhere there?

I taught for 5 years. The ski school is the bread and butter for a ski area. Ski instructors are the ambassadors so to speak. Any instructor that puts a black cloud over an area is immediately told to find employment elsewhere.

Now, that said, I’m not sure your reference about finding someone elsewhere. You mean going to a different area? Or hiring a private ski instructor from outside the ski school?

The latter is not an option. There is no such thing. You wouldn’t want to put your kid in the hands of an uncertified stranger anyways. And the former, well, one ski school is pretty much as good as the next. Each ski school teaches under a set of common standards, as developed by PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America).

Hope that helped…add additional details if you were after different information. Sometimes I check back on the questions I have visited.

We went up to Banff, Alberta, Canada last February and my oldest child learn to ski and snowboard in no time (and it was BRUTALLY cold and snowing!). It’s not that hard, just a lot of practice and a few falls. :->
