When I first left ...
When I first left Quebec to ski Whistler, skiing powder was a major change for me. I took a couple of lessons with some of the ski instructors when there were powder days, and I really got my legs. Not looked back since.

Yeah he really ...
Yeah he really didn't explain any powder skiing techniques. You are right about keeping balanced and trying to keep both skis together so that they almost act as one wide ski. Eastern skiers have problems in powder because they are used to putting much more pressure on their downhill skis...which like you said causes your skis to separate in powder. Powder skiing is like an up & down dance with very slight side to side movements. It can be tricky when first learning, but nirvana in the end.

So, you 'pack out a ...
So, you 'pack out a platform etc' and just go
.....that's it?

Why not explain that the feet should be held together to stop them separating and that in soft powder you can turn the upper body first
(Extreme anticipation) weight equally on both feet. In the thicker stuff kick down with both feet and then in the same movement gently lift the foot on the side you wish to turn. Stay centred on the skis.

This should help your students to learn quickly so that they don't need endless lessons!
