Groomed Runs and More at Breckenridge
Ski Instructors Jenn Losch and Matt Belleville take you for a tour of the peak 7 groomers and tee runs at Breckenridge.
Four huge peaks with over 2350 acres of skiing and riding, four terrain parks, three half-pipes, two high-speed six-passenger Superchairs, unparalleled grooming, a top-notch Ski & Ride School, exciting events, and a historic mining town. At 9600 feet, with over 300 days of sunshine and an average of 300 inches of snowfall per year, Breckenridge is the Perfect Mountain Town.
Big changes have happened at Breckenridge in recent years so its easy to see why Breckenridge, for the second year in a row, is the most popular resort in the country. The resort introduced the six-passenger high-speed Independence SuperChair in December 2002, opening up 165 acres of much-needed intermediate and advanced terrain on Peak 7, including seven new trails and the famous Peak 7 glades. That same season, the Peak 8 SuperConnect was also added, simplifying the transfer of skiers and riders from Peak 9 to Peak 8. Accessing 400 acres of famed expert and advanced intermediate terrain previously only accessible via hiking, Breckenridge took skiing and riding to new heights, adding the Imperial Express SuperChair in January 2006. The Imperial Express reaches 12,840 feet and stands as the highest chairlift in North America. Highlights from the 2006-2007 include the addition of the BreckConnect Gondola and SnowWhite 150 acres of above tree line expert terrain accessed by the Imperial Express SuperChair. The 8-passenger gondola takes skiers, riders and visitors from town to the Peak 7 and 8 base areas.
This season, Breckenridge Ski Resort opens its first base area since the development of Peak 9 in 1971. Complete with high-end lodging at the new Crystal Peak Lodge, skier services including ski school, ticket sales and rentals, and a new sit-down dining experience at Sevens, the new Peak 7 base area will introduce visitors to a new level of luxury and service in Breckenridge.
Journey into the heart and soul of skiing and snowboarding with Breckenridge Ski & Ride School’s Mountains of Discovery.
Outstanding beginner teaching terrain combined with top-notch Ski & Ride School instructors will turn a day on the slopes into a lifetime of fun. For the little tikes, a state-of-the-art childrens ski and snowboard school is conveniently located at the base of Peak 9.
Breckenridge was founded in 1859 and has the largest historic district in Colorado, boasting 249 structures. In honor of its sesquicentennial, this Victorian town will celebrate the Breck 150 in 2009, with an effort to create a lasting energy around Brecks heritage. Today there are over 200 shops and boutiques and 76 bars and restaurants to please all tastes and budgets.
From December to April, Breckenridge is packed with events including the Hartford Disabled Sports Ski Spectacular, AST Dew Tour, Ullr Fest and the International Snow Sculpture Championships. The season wraps up with the 9th Annual Spring Massive Festival in April – a fusion of sport, music, family fun, incredible lodging specials and legendary spring conditions
