I am is the shortest sentence in the English language. But you have to be something. Something that can be described with one word and one picture. Two things that express who you are, how you feel and how you came to be that way.

North Lake Tahoe Resorts Inundated with Fresh Snow and World-Class Events

BROADCAST QUALITY MPEG 2 B-ROLL FOOTAGE – Available after 4:00pm PST, Feb 16, 2009.

STORY SUMMARY: (NORTH LAKE TAHOE, California/Nevada) The last seven days of snowfall has left North Lake Tahoe resorts with over six feet of new snow, and more snow continues to fall this week as resorts roll out some of the biggest events of the season.

FOOTAGE INCLUDES: Current footage from North Lake Tahoe taken at Sugar Bowl, during the Silver Belt Banzai competition held on Sunday, February 15th, plus soundbites (see below).

SUPPORTING COPY: Snow started falling on February 5th, and has barely taken a break since, leaving North Lake Tahoe’s resorts with over six feet of new snow and spectacular mid-winter conditions. A winter storm warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Reno, NV. calling for additional snow accumulations of 1 to 2 feet above 7000′ by Tuesday afternoon.

The event calendar is unrelenting as well, with numerous world-class events and competitions being held at resorts around the region. On February 14th and 15th, Sugar Bowl’s Silver Belt Banzai, a revitalized competition with roots back to the 1940’s, brought the world’s fastest skiers out for a high-speed, fast-action, ski-cross styled competition. Olympian and World Cup Champion Daron Rahlves took first place as heavy snowfall blanketed the resort during Sunday’s finals.

The fresh snow will add to the appeal of other events in the coming weeks including the Winter Dew Tour, coming to Northstar-at-Tahoe February 19-22, the Freeride World Tour at Squaw Valley USA on February 27 – March 5, and the annual Snowfest winter carnival, being held at venues around North Lake Tahoe from February 27 – March 8th.

Groomed Runs and More at Breckenridge

Dec-11-2009 Posted under Ski Breckenridge

Ski Instructors Jenn Losch and Matt Belleville take you for a tour of the peak 7 groomers and tee runs at Breckenridge.

Four huge peaks with over 2350 acres of skiing and riding, four terrain parks, three half-pipes, two high-speed six-passenger Superchairs, unparalleled grooming, a top-notch Ski & Ride School, exciting events, and a historic mining town. At 9600 feet, with over 300 days of sunshine and an average of 300 inches of snowfall per year, Breckenridge is the Perfect Mountain Town.

Big changes have happened at Breckenridge in recent years so its easy to see why Breckenridge, for the second year in a row, is the most popular resort in the country. The resort introduced the six-passenger high-speed Independence SuperChair in December 2002, opening up 165 acres of much-needed intermediate and advanced terrain on Peak 7, including seven new trails and the famous Peak 7 glades. That same season, the Peak 8 SuperConnect was also added, simplifying the transfer of skiers and riders from Peak 9 to Peak 8. Accessing 400 acres of famed expert and advanced intermediate terrain previously only accessible via hiking, Breckenridge took skiing and riding to new heights, adding the Imperial Express SuperChair in January 2006. The Imperial Express reaches 12,840 feet and stands as the highest chairlift in North America. Highlights from the 2006-2007 include the addition of the BreckConnect Gondola and SnowWhite 150 acres of above tree line expert terrain accessed by the Imperial Express SuperChair. The 8-passenger gondola takes skiers, riders and visitors from town to the Peak 7 and 8 base areas.

This season, Breckenridge Ski Resort opens its first base area since the development of Peak 9 in 1971. Complete with high-end lodging at the new Crystal Peak Lodge, skier services including ski school, ticket sales and rentals, and a new sit-down dining experience at Sevens, the new Peak 7 base area will introduce visitors to a new level of luxury and service in Breckenridge.

Journey into the heart and soul of skiing and snowboarding with Breckenridge Ski & Ride School’s Mountains of Discovery.
Outstanding beginner teaching terrain combined with top-notch Ski & Ride School instructors will turn a day on the slopes into a lifetime of fun. For the little tikes, a state-of-the-art childrens ski and snowboard school is conveniently located at the base of Peak 9.

Breckenridge was founded in 1859 and has the largest historic district in Colorado, boasting 249 structures. In honor of its sesquicentennial, this Victorian town will celebrate the Breck 150 in 2009, with an effort to create a lasting energy around Brecks heritage. Today there are over 200 shops and boutiques and 76 bars and restaurants to please all tastes and budgets.

From December to April, Breckenridge is packed with events including the Hartford Disabled Sports Ski Spectacular, AST Dew Tour, Ullr Fest and the International Snow Sculpture Championships. The season wraps up with the 9th Annual Spring Massive Festival in April – a fusion of sport, music, family fun, incredible lodging specials and legendary spring conditions
